How to Leave an Anonymous Review on Google Maps

1. Sign In to Your Google Account and go to Google Maps
Go to Google and sign into the Google account you want to use for the review. Navigate to Google Maps (http://maps.google.com/) or open Google Maps app on your phone
2. Update Your Google Maps Profile Name
Desktop: click on the 3 lines in the upper left and select Your Contributions
Go to Edit Profile
Select the box next to “use a custom display name & picture for posting”
Mobile: Contribute should be at the bottom, second in from the right
Click on the image of you to the left of your name (it has a little orange star on it)
Go to Edit Profile
Select the box next to “use a custom display name & picture for posting”
3. Change Your Profile Photo
Your Google profile photo appears next to reviews.
Replace it with a generic image generated by Google or upload one you’d prefer
4. Change your Display Name
You can either use your first name and last initial, a pseudonym, or put “Anonymous”
Hit “save” and then “confirm”
5. Search for the Business on Google Maps
Locate the business you want to review
6. Click “Write a Review”
Select the star rating and write your feedback
7. Post the Review
Once submitted, your review will appear publicly under your Google profile name
Important Things to Know
Google Does Not Offer Fully Anonymous Reviews (Google still knows it’s you)
Even if you change your visible name:
Google still retains account information internally
Reviews still go through Google’s normal verification and spam detection systems
Review Responsibly
Google may remove reviews that violate its policies, including:
Spam or fake reviews
Harassment or threats
Reviews unrelated to an actual customer experience
Comments
